Humanistic philosophy, architectural style and the artistic aesthetics, as markers and annotations of a grand new era, flourished as never before. Concentrated on the joyful implications, the brand uses artistic approaches to mingle the classical essences of East and West. SHIATZY CHEN develops the theme fabric from incorporating the gold and silver tones from Rococo, the Oriental cloud patterns, images of dragons, phoenixes and lions, and creates a splendid and powerful image.

The dialog between the tangible concrete architecture of the cathedral and this luminous abstraction resulted in a geometric contour that recalls the Art Deco style of the 1920s.
By lengthening lines, mixing happily silks and light pleats while breaking free from a purely classical silhouette, the new SHIATZY CHEN collection reveals the boyish charms of a self-confident woman.

SHIATZY CHEN SS2016 COLLECTION - Spearheading
Shiatzy Chen features “Spearheading” as the theme for the 2016 Spring/Summer women’s fashion to start a new year and season. In The Journey to the West, one of the four wondrous books in Chinese literature, the protagonist, Sun Wukong led a team to the West obtaining scriptures, becoming the symbol of bravery, wits, and an embodiment of courage in the face of difficulties centuries ago. In the 19th Century, Gustav Klimt, who is known for rich emotions and metallic elements in his works, established Vienna Secession, sending contemporary art into a new wave of Avant Garde.
The imagery of Sun Wukong roaming playfully in his HuaKuoShan is morphed into a childlike playful image on the clothing in Klimt’s grand colors. The perfect confluence of the East and West results in the brand’s latest design, which presents a picturesque and retro contour and cutting.

SHIATZY CHEN FW2013 COLLECTION –Richness and colors
Shiatzy Chen’s 2013 Fall/Winter Collection retrieves the artistic essence and tailoring cuts from China’s Tang Dynasty and creates a delicate and rich fashion look. Richness is reflected by layers of substantial fabric construction. Colors are reflected by the marriage of traditional and modern colors.
The Tang Dynasty, a period of close to 300 years, was one of the most prosperous and glorious period in China, similar to the glory of Roman Empire. It was an era with full achievements in artistic and cultural creations. One of the iconic art works during this time was the Tang San Cai (Tri-Color Pottery) made more than a thousand years ago. The production process for Tang San Cai is extremely complicated. It entails several steps of glazing in changing temperatures. Various minerals are added at different stages, including bronze, iron, manganese, cobalt, antimony, lead, and aluminium to create the color glazes. During the glazing process, green, orange, gold, ink black and blue become intermingled. Through the years and the climate changes along the way, the potteries age with surprising color tints that make their appearance even more appealing to the collectors. Shiatzy Chen takes in the essence of Tang Dynasty and interprets the spirit in colors and fabric prints.
SHIATZY CHEN SS2014 COLLECTION – Perpetuality
The folk art of paper cutting has flourished in China for more than fifteen hundred years. Paper cutting initially served the decorative and ritual needs of the working class and gradually developed from an emotional outlet to a widely accepted form of art. In many ways, paper cutting truly reflects the creativity of the average citizen; it is simple yet amusing, understated but profound. As paper cutting thrived amongst the laborers, void of the restrictions brought about by mundane value of materialism it exemplified the purest form of traditional art, esthetics, and spirituality.
